What makes a home renovation in Adelaide different
A home renovation in Adelaide means working within a built environment that was not designed for how you want to live today. The bones are often worth keeping: the proportions, the ceiling heights, the relationship to the street. What changes is everything inside them.

RESLU operates as a single studio. The designer and the renovation builder are the same team. The material decision made in the design and documentation phase is the material that arrives on site. There is no gap to fall into.

Heritage and character homes
Adelaide’s older homes are our most common brief.
A significant proportion of homes in Adelaide’s inner suburbs carry a heritage overlay or fall within a designated character area. This shapes what can be altered, how additions read from the street, and what documentation council requires before any work begins.
RESLU has worked on South Australian Heritage Act properties and local heritage listed homes across Unley, North Adelaide, Norwood, and Walkerville. Heritage impact statements and council referrals are prepared internally, so you never coordinate a separate consultant.
The approach is the same whether the home is listed or not. We begin with what the home is, then establish what it can become. Character is not something to work around. It is the thing worth keeping.
How a home renovation works at RESLU
Brief and site visit
Before any commitment is made, we review your brief and visit the home. We assess the structure, understand how you use it, and establish whether the scope is right for us, and whether we are the right studio for you.
Design and documentation
Our interior and building design team develops the scheme: floor plan, ceiling heights, joinery, material palette, lighting and fittings. Design renders help you consider the room and its proposed materials before construction. They communicate design intent; the approved drawings and specifications define the work.
We document the agreed design and brief the trades on the details. Drawings, decisions and progress are tracked through a private client portal. If the brief changes, we assess the effect on scope, cost and timing before proceeding.
Council documentation and approvals
Development approval, building consent, and heritage referrals where required. Managed internally, across Adelaide’s suburban council areas.
Construction
RESLU undertakes construction as your builder. We deliver the agreed building work with our trades and suppliers, taking responsibility for workmanship and the finished result through to handover.
Handover
Finished, furnished, and documented. A complete record of every specification, supplier, and material, held for the life of the home.

Investment
The entry point for a significant whole-home renovation with RESLU is $750,000. A focused kitchen, bathroom or primary suite can also be a substantial commission. Investment follows the scope, complexity and level of detail, not simply the number of rooms. Larger projects are welcome for discussion.
Before we draw anything, we need to understand what you have to spend and what you want to achieve with that spend. That conversation is the foundation of an honest brief. Without it, any scope we produce is speculative.
RESLU’s focus is on getting the very best outcome from the investment in front of us. Every material decision, every construction detail, every resolved junction in the joinery reflects the same standard of attention and craft, whether the scope is a focused kitchen or the whole house.
The scope adjusts to the investment. The standard does not.
For heritage homes, we are specific about the additional work involved: documentation, conservation requirements, specialist trades. All of that is part of the investment conversation before either side commits.

A full home renovation typically runs 10 to 18 months from first brief to handover. Heritage properties with council overlays often run longer. We have managed council processes across Unley, Norwood, City of Adelaide, Burnside, and Walkerville. The programme we give you at the beginning reflects how the work actually unfolds, not an optimistic estimate designed to secure the job.
